FAQ's

If you have any questions, or comments, please e-mail us at customerservice@800biltong.com. We welcome your feedback.

So give us your thoughts and make suggestions. Also, please forward this site to other South Africans.

Q: What is the difference between Biltong and Beef Jerky?
A: Biltong is dry cured and not cooked and there are no preservatives. Dry cure means that the Biltong has a soft texture when you chew it. Jerky is saturated with preservatives and then cooked at 160F for 6 hours. You may as well eat a piece of cardboard with some flavor in it. The other big difference is our spices. Our authentic South African spices have 22 components and this gives our Biltong a unique and distinctive taste and texture to that of other beef Biltong brands and Beef Jerky.

Q: Will my order be safe during the shipping process?
A: Definitely. We pack everything with all the protection it needs. Your product will not suffer any damage during this process. If there is ever a time when your order has not been delivered to your satisfaction, please contact us immediately, and we will gladly meet your needs.

Q: Can an order be sent to another address?
A: Of course! Just let us know when you are ordering. We can bill one party and have the products shipped to a different one. The exception is on promotions & combos, theĀ order cannot be split up.

Q: Do you fill large orders?
A: Yes. We receive requests quite often for large orders. Our products are not produced for individual resale, but large orders for parties are very common. Ask about our catering for weddings, bar / bat mitzvah's, baby showers, graduation, engagements, other events etc.

Q: How should I store my biltong?
A: After receiving your Biltong, the best way to store it is to keep it in the fridge or on the kitchen counter once you've opened the package. It takes about 30 minutes to reach room temperature and soften up after being taken out of the fridge. There are no preservatives, so mold can occur.

Q: Why does my biltong have white on it?
A: Occasionally, depending on the humidity in your area, the dried Biltong may appear to have a touch of white. This is salt trying to re-hydrate and is safe. You can wipe it off with white vinegar.

Q: I like some fat on my biltong.
A: Our biltong is made from one of best grades of beef. The meat is selected for its low level of marbling. Our biltong is extra lean internally and this is intentional. You can order our Biltong with some fat on the edges.

Q: Why don't you have wine, beer, cookies, sweets and candies?
A: As our name implies, we sell biltong only at this time. If we carry other products, you will get an email from us.

Q: Do you have Kosher, spicy or other flavored biltong?
A: Yes, some are currently on site as stock items. If you don't see it on the site call customer service or email us, since it is a custom order.

Q: If I don't like the flavors of your products, can I get a refund or replacement?
A: No. Not liking our flavors does not qualify you for a refund or replacement.

Q: Refunds and Returns how does it work?
A: If you find anything wrong with the product or you are not 100% satisfied, we must be notified immediately uponĀ receipt. Failure to notify us within this time period will void our guarantee.

Q: Can I pay over the phone with a credit card or ATM card.
A: Yes. Please call customer service 1-800-BILTONG

Q: Can I get a free sample?
A: No, not at this time.

Q: Can I have you ship my order to me using my own UPS, FEDEX or DHL account?
A: Not at this time. Our system is designed to have pre calculated s&h built into the product price. When the option of using your own shipper account becomes available, we will let you know.

Q: Why was my order delayed by the shipping dept?
A: We reserve the right to delay shipping any order due to weather or holidays or for any other reason if we believe the product will not arrive in mint condition.
We will attempt to notify you by email.
